Here are all the spoken Languages in the Galaxy. A character can learn up to 7 of them. However, protocol droids can learn them all.
- Aqualish Aqualish is the language spoken by the Aqualish species. Aqualish vocal cords caused harsh guttural sounds, which were common in Aqualish but uncommon in Basic.
- Binary Binary, also known as Droidspeak, was the computer language comprised of electronic beeps, bloops, whines, and whistles of droids. All droids could “speak” and understand Binary.
- Bith Bith or Bithian was the native language of the Bith from Clak'dor IV. It was one of the official languages of the planet, being the other one Basic.
- Bocce Bocce was an interplanetary trade language comprised of parts of multiple languages. It was created by the Baobab Merchant Fleet to allow communication between starcraft pilots, crews, and support personnel of various species. Though not commonly used by most, any experienced pilots or spacers would know a few Bocce phrases in case they came across those that did not speak the pilot's native language.
- Bothese Bothese was the spoken language of the Bothans. The language was also known as Bothan.
- Dosh Dosh is short for Trandoshan and is the official language of the Trandoshan species from Trandosha composed mainly of harsh grunts, hisses and growls. It had a written form that used alphabetic glyphs.
- Ewokese Ewokese was the language spoken by the Ewoks. Ewokese was a primitive language, but despite its isolation, some humans were able to understand it. Ewokese had no written form.
- Galactic Basic Galactic Basic Standard (or Galactic Basic, Galactic Standard, Galaxy Standard or just Basic) was the most prevalent and most used language in the galaxy. It has many similarities with the English language.
- Geonosian Geonosian was the language of the Geonosian species native to Geonosis. It consisted of click consonants, possible through the dual-mandibles of Geonosians—one moving vertically, and a second, internal set moving horizontally.
- Gungan Basic Gungan Basic, also called Gunganese, was the language spoken by the Gungans of Naboo. It was a language mostly derived from Naboo settlers' language, Basic, spoken in an accent. Humans could usually understand it and, similarly, Gungans could understand Humans speaking Basic (even in written form).
- Huttese Huttese was the native language of the Hutts, although it was spoken by many races, especially those on Tatooine. Because of the Hutts' commercial and criminal influence throughout the Galaxy, Huttese was the second most common language after Galactic Basic.
- Ithorese Ithorese was the language of the Ithorians. Because the Ithorians had two mouths and four throats, the language had a peculiar stereophonic aspect to it. This stereo effect also appears when Ithorians speak Basic. The language was incredibly beautiful yet difficult to learn.
- Jawaese Jawaese was the native language of the Jawa species from Tatooine. It was mainly composed of meaningless syllables, supported by pheromone produced scents, which allowed it to be understood. Jawa communication was based in these scents to such a high degree that the scent a Jawa gave out could tell others about that Jawa's mood.
- Kel Dor Kel Dor was the native language of the Kel Dor species from Dorin. Most Kel Dor were fluent in both Kel Dor and Basic.
- Mando'a Mando'a, sometimes referred to as Mandalorian, was the language spoken by the Mandalorian warrior culture and the Ancient Taungs of Coruscant.
- Mon Calamarian Mon Calamarian was the official language of the Mon Calamari species. Mon Calamaris, however, learned to speak both Mon Calamarian and Basic since they were a part of the galactic community.
- Pak Pak Pak Pak, also known as Neimoidian, was the main language spoken/conveyed by the Neimoidians. Pak Pak was both a verbal and nonverbal way of Neimoidian communication.
- Rodese Rodese or Rodian was the native language spoken by Rodians. Many Rodians living away from Rodia spoke other languages more frequently, especially Huttese.
- Shyriiwook Shyriiwook, also known as Wookieespeak, was the main trade language of the Wookiees. In Basic, Shyriiwook translates to "tongue of the tree people". It was not the only Wookiee language, but, being the main trade language, it was the language understood by most non-Wookiees who understood "the Wookiee language" — in fact, most non-Wookiees were unaware of the existence of multiple Wookiee languages.
- Sullustese Sullustese, or Sullustan, was the language spoken by the Sullustan species.
- Twi'leki Twi'leki, Rylothean, or Ryl was the native spoken language of the Twi'leks. Twi'leki incorporated subtle body language, including body language, and so was difficult for non-Twi'leks to fully understand.
- Umbarese Umbarese was the native language of the Umbaran species from Umbara. Most Umbarans, especially those leaving their system, were fluent and literate in both Umbarese and Basic.
- Sith The Sith language was the native language of the people of Ziost and Korriban. It was later expanded upon and evolved when the second generation of Dark Jedi split from the Jedi Order in 7,000 BBY, just after the Battle of Corbos. Even after the extinction of the Sith species, the language was preserved in Sith holocrons, temples, and tomes, and individuals as modern as Vergere, Dr'uun Unnh, and Jerec spoke it.
- Quarren Quarren, also refererred to as Quarrenese, was the official language of the Quarren species.
